Emmaus
A course in basic Christianity

What's the Point?

Emmaus: the Way of Faith

Do you wonder what life is all about, and whether it has any meaning or purpose?

Do you have questions about God, Jesus, Christianity or the Church?

We invite you to explore such matters at an Emmaus Course, which covers the basics of the Christian faith and gives you the chance for discussion and questions. No pressure, no obligation - and it's free!

If you have been to a course you will know how useful they are. If you haven't, then please contact , or the Minister, , who will be happy to advise when the next courses will be held.

We also run a youth Emmaus course, called FISHFOOD. This is a six week course for young people, and is an opportunity to ask questions and explore the Christian faith in a friendly, non-threatening way.

What is Emmaus?

Emmaus: The Way of Faith is a resource designed to help churches welcome people into the Christian faith and the life of the Church. It is rooted in an understanding of evangelism, nurture and discipleship that is modelled on the example of Jesus, as portrayed in the story of the Emmaus Road.

Although Emmaus was developed in the Anglican Church in the Diocese of Wakefield, it is non-denominational in its approach to Christianity. It provides a non-confrontational means of discovering the meaning behind the Christian faith through talks, discussion groups and fellowship. It is equally suitable for those seeking to find out about Christianity, those with a newly-found faith and as a refresher for long-standing Christians to remind them of the basics.
