Outlook December 2008/ January 2009

Wymondley

"My Lord and My God" - thus declared Thomas in true adoration when he realised that the risen Lord Jesus was the true Messiah and his saviour. When Peter recognised who Jesus was, he fell to his knees in worship and awe.

We are constantly hearing those words "My God", but sadly, they are so often used in an expletive tone, taking the Lord's name in vain and it is more and more common, and offensive, if thoughtless, with children too using this as a common part of their conversation.

When the shepherds saw the baby Jesus, their hearts were filled with worship and adoration, and they were to share the wonderful news, glorifying and praising God for what they had seen. May this Christmas be the time when we realize afresh the amazing fact of the saviour born at Bethlehem to become our Lord and our God - and let us give Him the honour and worship He deserves.

and the government will be on His shoulders,
and He will be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
