This New Year is well on its way and hasn't it been a blessing that the weather has been so good, so far! We look forward to some exciting events in 2012 with the Queen's Jubilee and the Olympic Games and we hear that many Churches are getting involved in both! We thank God for our Queen and all she has meant to us down the years and her speech on Christmas Day was especially challenging and inspiring... and I quote from those words: - "God sent into the world a unique person - neither a philosopher nor a general - important though they are, but a Saviour, with the power to forgive. Forgiveness lies at the heart of the Christian faith. It can heal broken families, it can restore friendships and it can reconcile divided communities. It is in forgiveness that we feel the power of God's love......... It is my prayer that we might all find room in our lives for the message of the angels and for the love of God through Christ our Lord.". ....and she went on to quote from the carol..'O Holy Child of Bethlehem descend to us we pray, Cast out our sin and enter in, be born in us today'.
The Queen wants all her people to share lunch together (or dinner or tea!) so in Little Wymondley we hope to have an enormous picnic on June 3rd on the Green in Siccut Road, and if it's anything like the Royal Wedding celebration last year, it should be good! (organised by the Parish Council as this year's will be).
This year our theme for the year is 'Jesus said, 'I will build My Church' and the Sunday morning services for the first three months of 2012 will focus around the theme and encourage us all to consider the implications of the eternal, worldwide
'It's Monday' has just celebrated its tenth Birthday with a Party and we thank God for those years as we look forward with anticipation and trust for the future.
